LOCALSTACK TERMS OF SERVICE
Welcome to LocalStack! “LocalStack” (or “we” or “us”) provides a software-as-a-service platform as well as other software for cloud application development and testing in local and controlled environments, including capabilities that emulate cloud services and related infrastructure. Definitions to capitalized terms used in these Terms are found in the “Definitions” section below.
Welcome to LocalStack’s Hobby Plan
LocalStack makes its Service and its Software freely available for anyone to use, lowering the barrier to education and experimentation for the global cloud community.
The Hobby Plan of LocalStack represents our commitment to maintaining our support for the developer community.
The Hobby Plan is crafted for individual hobbyists, students and others who want to develop, test, and experiment in a local cloud digital twin. We invite you to explore our features, sharpen your skills, and push the limits of your local dev environment as close as possible to the cloud - all we ask is that you respect the personal, non-commercial nature of the Hobby Plan as outlined below. The Hobby Plan is intended for personal, educational, and non-commercial development use only.
Exceptions
If you desire an exception with respect to any aspect of these Terms, including the LocalStack Asset rules, the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) or Restrictions, you may request consent by contacting LocalStack here: legal@localstack.cloud.
Terms
This LocalStack Terms of Service applies to your use of the LocalStack Assets. These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and LocalStack, so please read them carefully (each of the foregoing capitalized terms defined further below).
BY USING THE LOCALSTACK ASSETS, YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT LOCALSTACK PROCESSES PERSONAL DATA AS DESCRIBED IN LOCALSTACK PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THESE TERMS, YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR USE THE LOCALSTACK ASSETS.
If you access or use the LocalStack Assets as an individual, you are personally bound by these Terms.
If you access or use the LocalStack Assets on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and in that event “you” and “your” refer to that organization.
If you initially access the LocalStack Assets in your individual capacity but later register, subscribe, or otherwise use the LocalStack Assets on behalf of an organization, then from that point forward your use will be deemed use on behalf of that organization, and these Terms will apply to that organization, unless your organization has a separate written agreement in effect with LocalStack, in which event the terms of that agreement will govern your use of the LocalStack Assets.
- Changes to Terms of Service. LocalStack reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change or modify the Terms, whether in whole or in part, with 30 days’ notice. If LocalStack changes the Terms, LocalStack will post such new terms on the Site and any such changes or modifications will become effective upon posting. Your continued access to and use of the LocalStack Assets, following the posting of any such changes or modifications, will constitute your acceptance of the Terms as revised.
- Your Account.
- While registration is not required to access and use the Site and certain Materials, LocalStack requires you to register to use the Service. LocalStack requires you to provide your true, complete and accurate information about yourself on any registration form in the Site, and to maintain and update that information over time to remain true, complete and accurate.
- You are responsible for complying with the Terms including our Acceptable Use Policy (see Section 6 below). If you become aware of any unauthorized use of the LocalStack Assets or your account or have any questions about your account please contact LocalStack Support at support@localstack.cloud.
- In order to sign up to use the Service, you must register and authenticate an account. You may choose what email address(es) you use to register for an account. If the domain of the email address associated with your account is owned or controlled by an organization, and that organization establishes a direct relationship with LocalStack and wishes to add your account to its relationship, then your account and email may be moved under that organization’s account. In such cases, LocalStack will use reasonable efforts to notify you prior to such transfer. If you fail to respond or change your email address associated with your account, your account may be deactivated, and your User Data associated with your account may be deleted.

If LocalStack becomes aware that a child under 13 has provided or attempted to provide LocalStack with personal information, LocalStack will use best efforts to remove the information permanently from our files, where reasonably possible. If you are a parent or legal guardian agreeing to these Terms for the benefit of a child between 13 and 18 years old, be advised that you are fully responsible for the child’s use of the Service and any and all legal liability that he or she may incur. For purposes of this section, the applicable age requirements are determined by the laws of the country where the user is located or ordinarily resides.

If LocalStack believes that your account has been used for any illegal purpose, or you have otherwise violated the Terms (including the Acceptable Use Policy) or any applicable federal, state or local laws, LocalStack may suspend and/or terminate your account and share account information with law enforcement officials. LocalStack may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if LocalStack decides to discontinue the Hobby Plan. Also, if you do not use your account for a period of greater than 90 days, we may mark it inactive and notify you (e.g., via email) asking you to sign in or otherwise re‑engage. If you do not re‑engage within 30 days after our notice, we may suspend and/or terminate your account. You may request reactivation at any time, which we may grant in our sole discretion.
Once your account is suspended or terminated, you will no longer have access to your account or your User Data. After such termination, LocalStack will delete your User Data within a reasonable period of time after such termination not to exceed 30 days. Upon termination, you may request access to your User Data, by sending such requests to support@localstack.cloud, which we will make available, except in cases where we have terminated your account due to your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. If you request the deletion of your User Data, we will process your request promptly, unless retention is necessary to comply with legal obligations or for legitimate business interests.
If your organization (including any administrator of your organizational account) terminates its agreement, or otherwise closes its account, with LocalStack, we may deactivate or remove all associated user accounts linked to that organization.
