LocalStack for Open Source

We believe open-source projects are the backbone of much of today’s technology, and we want to support open-source contributors to be able to build, test, and ship faster. If you maintain a non-commercial, open-source project, we invite you to apply for a free LocalStack for AWS license (Ultimate tier) and/or a free LocalStack for Snowflake license.

No Wasted Cloud Costs

Fully emulate AWS and Snowflake locally, eliminating surprise cloud bills for your testing and development environments.

Full Feature Access

Be an active, helpful voice in our ecosystem. Whether you're answering questions on Slack, participating in GitHub discussions, or connecting with peers, your guidance makes a huge impact.

Faster CI/CD Pipelines

Drastically reduce build times by running your integration tests locally or in your CI environment without external cloud dependencies.

Eligibility Criteria

Projects must meet the following requirements:

Non-Commercial: The project must not be owned or maintained by a for-profit entity and must not generate revenue (e.g., through paid versions, commercial support or proprietary add-ons). While the project should not generate revenue through commercial sales, community-based financial support—such as donations, GitHub Sponsors, or Open Collective—is fully permitted and will not disqualify your application.
OSI-Approved License: Your project must be licensed under an Open Source Initiative approved license (e.g., MIT, Apache 2.0, GPL).
Publicly Accessible: The source code must be available in a public repository (e.g., GitHub, GitLab) with a publicly accessible website or documentation.
Active Development: The project should show signs of active maintenance (e.g., commits within the last 3-6 months).
Community Focus: The project should be intended for public use and contribute to the broader developer ecosystem.

If your application is approved, we encourage you to acknowledge our support in a way that feels natural to your project:
